NO WOMAN NO CRY. “What do you mean by this?” I know you will wonder. It came to my mind at the instance of the song by the popular Bob Marley. Although I have heard this piece for quite number of times but at this period it sends a timely message like never before. Consequently, as I gave it a deeper thought, it brought about a profound truth that is worth considering. It is widely believed that there can never be rain without the gathering of the clouds, no growing of the plant without the rain. Without Isaac Newton the Law of Motion may still be out of sight. The breakthrough in Automobile may not be except for the initial contribution of Henry Ford. Kudos to Faraday for discovering Electricity; in fact, the whole world could still be in “darkness” without the contribution of this great man. And what more shall I say? For time will not permit me to tell of Albert Einstein, the great mathematician, Martin Luther King, (Jnr.) and his famous I have a dream speech. Or John F. Kennedy, one of the greatest American presidents that ever lived. These and many more came on board here and managed to affect the world with their “Cause”. Without mincing words, the whole world had witnessed breakthroughs in several areas of life as a result of calculative efforts of men, past and present. 1 Sam 17: 27-28 “And the people answered him in this manner, so shall it be done for the man who kills him. 28 – Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David and he said “why did you come down here, and with whom have you left those few sheeps in the wilderness? I know your pride and insolence of your heart. For you have come down to see the battle 29 – and David said, what have I done now? IS THERE NOT A CAUSE?” CRITICALLY SPEAKING, David found himself in an emergency yet providentially arranged by the Creator for a REASON. It is also important to know that David didn’t send himself. He had been busy taking care of the sheep before HIS FATHER SENT HIM TO HIS BROTHERS; indeed he was a “SENT MAN” With
the above understanding I will want us to consider the question Eliab put to
David because it is a timely question. God is asking us today: “Why did
you come down here?” Have you at any time asked yourself this
all-important question? If not I put this to you “why did you come down earth”?
Why have you come here? Why did you found yourself at this side of eternity? Why
did you have life in the first instance? You could have come as a stone, most
possibly a costly one so that like Gold you will be used as an ornament because
of its RARITY. Even as crude oil, Nigeria as a country will have more of you to
boost its economy and will largely depend on you for its foreign exchange
earning. But now that you have come as a man, of what use and benefit is your
life to humanity? Of what advantage and gain is your stay to the rest of us
here? …For you have come down to see the battle (vs 28) dear Brother and Sister have you just come down here to see what is happening? A wise man once said, there are categories of men living down here. The first group watch things happening , the next spread the news of what is happening while the superior and purposeful class make things happen. Which one do you belong?? 1Sam 17:29i “Nay David said, what have I done now? Is there not a cause?? I sincerely pray that you will come to an understanding that there is a CAUSE for your life. God never does a thing without a reason; He can never send you here just to occupy time without an assignment. Your life is meant to discharge; you have something to offer like an arrow shot to accomplish a definite task. Beloved you cannot afford losing out on the cause of your life. Your life is meant to be a solution to a problem; your life should be a plus and not a minus. Before death comes, your Cause must not only be discovered but also fulfilled. That the world can say concerning you as it was said of David of old: For David after he had served his own generation by the will of God; fell asleep, (and) was buried with his fathers. (Acts 13:36)
Your generation is awaiting you to come up with a responsibility of
serving them by the will of God because NO WOMAN, NO CRY.
