YOUR FUTURE STARTS AT 6:18 PM

What would you do if someone comes into your room one day and says that your future – the future you’ve been envisaging and fantasizing about – will begin at 6:pm?

Firstly, you’d start having silly thoughts like, “I haven’t had my bath yet”, “how many of my friends’ phone numbers can I get off my head?” “Where, just where did that stupid dog go to now?” “What, you mean today?”

Friend, I have a word from God specifically for you: Your Future Is Nearer Than You Think. The Spirit of the Lord is pressing upon me that many have loosened their grip on the rope of faith. They have come full circle from receiving the promise with joy and spiritual ecstasy, then through dry periods of non-events, then back to implicit doubt. Friend, God’s word to you may have come in the form of a dream, an idea, a vision, or a glimpse through the scriptures of what a fulfilled life should be. I know this because that’s why you’re connected to this ministry, because it pulls the faith strings in you; you’re excited every time you visit this site because it reminds you that the best is yet to come, that where you are now is just the minimum of God’s plan for you. But the excitement seems to have gone now – not because everything around you is failing but because things just stay the same. I’ll like to tell you this,

“Before every storm is a calm”

This was not my prepared message, but God just laid the burden on me to say these words to you. He said,

“Go tell (them) to get ready for my coming; to go gather vessels, not a few; to prepare their chariots lest the rain comes and overtakes them.”

Friend, my worry is not whether that (God-given) desire in your heart will come to pass, it surely will. Because the word of the Lord “shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11); but my concern is that the word will meet you unprepared.

More Than A Dreamer
The day broke like any other day for Joseph in prison, but word came and he was asked to stand before Pharaoh and he never returned. The children of Israel had been wondering around the wilderness for forty years when all of a sudden they were told to “Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan,”  (Josh. 1:11). There had not been rain for three years when the prophet Elijah told king Ahab that there was “a sound of abundance of rain,... Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.” (1Kings 18:41,44).

A Breakthrough That Meets You Unprepared Will Not Last

Because Joseph was prepared when his dream came to pass, he reigned in Egypt for eighty years – a full sixty-six years longer than his dream interpretation made room for. Canaan was said to be a land "Flowing with milk and honey" but the Israelites it took it to be some wonderful, feel-good, pie-in-the-sky fantasy. Being unprepared for the real, physical Canaan land, they were soon overthrown by oppressors in their own inheritance.  Have you been easing up on that God-given dream already? Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, (Rev 3:2); as sure as surety itself, God’s word will come to pass in your life; the least you can do is let it meet you prepared.

 3 Letters, One Word
How do you stay prepared? One word: ACT, “faith without works is dead” (James 2:20)

A-cquaint (Accustom) yourself with vision. It may be necessary to write down what God has promised you. Fine-tune it; I don’t believe you should still be saying things like, “I shall prosper” everyday without getting to know what diving prosperity means.

C-onfess the word. I cannot overemphasise the necessity to daily confess God’s promise. Gloria Copeland says, “The two important elements of faith are God’s word and your word.” Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Pr 18:21).

T-ake practical steps. Stop being a starry-eyed dreamer, start doing things that pertain to the dream to show God that you take Him seriously. Many people are like Gideon – staying in the house and laying out fleece tests for God; but God’s looking for Jonathans who will test God’s will by single-handedly confronting an army (1 Sam 14), and Esthers who would say, “If I die, I die”, (Esther 4:16).

Like John Connor, (the hero in the ‘Terminator 3’ movie), the event for which you were born, may just be under 3 hours away – at exactly 6:18 pm.
