FORE!

January '04

I hope you don't mind, but I will be using some golf language to explain the little thing I want to say.

We are a people of Destiny; we are no ordinary people. Now we may look regular to those around us, we may look mundane, our presence may even be kinda boring to quite a few persons. They just don't, (to use a slang word), Dig us. Everyday they see you wake up and confess prosperity over your life, they see you smile in the face of adversity, they look at the family from which you come from and raise their eyebrows when you talk of the things you're going to achieve in life. Some snigger when you're not looking, others compare your present, less than enthusiastic state with your euphoric mood and worry if you are alright, if you are not taking this purpose thing too far.

Well Friend, we've got some news for them this year.

"Fore"

The target of the game of golf is to get a small, hard ball into a hole with as few strokes as possible. I suppose you have seen them golfers doing it before. They stand close to a little flag where the hole is and gently push the ball with their club and hold their breath as it rolls on.

But sometimes the ball is quite very far from the hole; and it would take a big whack of the club to take the ball anywhere near the hole. But you see, golf balls are not very soft things, anybody hit by one is sure to get hurt. So when a golfer gives such a full swing, he usually calls out: "Fore", to warn those ahead that a ball is headed in their direction.

You know Friend, that's what I hear God saying to the world concerning you. We are His creation, our lives are His handiwork. He called us, we did not call ourselves. He loved us so much, that what He called us to do looks like a well-thought up fantasy to others. At the beginning of our lives, He gave a big stroke of the club and sent us soaring into time - to transform people, to affect lives, to change times and entire nations. The doctor that held you never knew it, your school teacher couldn't see beyond your mental horizon, even you, (I dare say), once thought yourself a nobody or at best a not-too-big-body. But all that has changed now.

You are familiar with the phrase; they won't know what hit them; well, that need not be their case if they'd only listen. 'Cause friend, you are coming, and they better get ready.

We say:

-"Fore!", to the mountains that have been hindering you all these years and have set a virtual limit to how much you can achieve.

-"Fore!", to the evil men exploiting your generation and making a mess of the economy.

-"Fore!", to the hosts of darkness that think this present generation is just about theirs.

-"Fore!", need I say more? You seem to be getting the message already. Friends, it's time we did some talking into the future. I know that this is the New Year and you have made some proclamations but you can't have too much proclamation when it comes to your life. 2 Cor. 4:13 says:

Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, "I believed, and so I spoke," we too believe, and so we speak.

It need not be one highbrow, super-spiritual, altruistic matter we are talking about; it may be concerning your education, your marital life, your career. Realize that, like that golf ball, you may still be in the air, you may yet to have landed, or (to use the usual phrase) arrived, but FORE! everyone; for the ball cometh. Though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habbakuk 2:3

For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Hebrews 10:37

So, are you coming?

 God Bless.
